Welcome to the exciting world of art at
Scott School!
My name is Ms. Goers and I am incredibly privileged to teach the talented and creative student artists here at Scott School.   They consistently show me dedication and genuine interest in their work, so I am inspired to share what these intelligent young minds have created.

Projects

Vessels
Each fifth grade student created a vessel using coil construction.  They focused on building strong, even walls and smoothing out cracks in the earth clay.  After bisque-firing, every student glazed their project, layering up colors and creating a pattern or design with the glaze.  These vessels are truly unique and beautiful!   Projects
Figure Sculptures
Before tackling the figure in 3 dimensions, each individual practiced learning the proper proportions of the body through gesture drawing exercises.  The following week, we viewed the work of figure sculptor Alberto Giacometti.  Then, we built the wire armatures, which served to support the sculpture (much like our skeletal system supports our bodies).  Next, the students used plastic grocery bags and masking tape to build up form on the skinny armature.  After the figures were formed, the students positioned them into the desired gesture and plastered over the entire figure.  When dried, we attached the hardened figures to bases using hot glue in order for them to stand without other support.  Using monchromatic color we painted the figures and applied gloss medium to seal up the sculptures.  Each student created a very unique figure sculpture, and I am proud to show off their hard work!  Take a look...  Projects
