On Saturday, Nov. 7th, the Illinois Music Educator’s Association Junior High Division held its annual District I Music Festival at Lincoln-Way North High School in New Lenox.  The festival involved over 500 students selected from more than 60 school throughout the southwestern metropolitan Chicago area.

Two Mannheim Middle School students were selected to participate in the festival – Grace W. (oboe) and Melissa C. (bass clarinet).

The festival concert featured the 150-member band, the 100-member orchestra, and the 150-member chorus.  Guest conductors for the event were Stacy Larson, Vandercook College of Music (band); Joanne May, Glenbard East High School (orchestra); and Joe Grant, The University of Illinois (chorus).
