This is Kim Petrasek, Superintendent of Mannheim District 83.  I hope you and your families are safe and healthy.  We all want our students to attend school in-person because of the wonderful interactions that happen between students, educators and families in a safe and healthy environment.  The Elementary Teacher Task Force Team, the MMS Teacher Task Force Team, Enger School staff and Mannheim Early Childhood teachers met virtually this summer with administrators to create a Hybrid Learning Model/Remote Learning Model for our students.  This information was provided to you via a voice message on July 17th and on our website.

Now with the new Fall 2020 Learning Recommendations from Illinois State Board of Education released on July 23, 2020, the increase of positive COVID-19 cases in our community, and the D83 Parent Survey results, Mannheim District 83 Schools will begin with a Full Remote Learning Model this school year.  The Full Remote Learning Model will be implemented first quarter with a re-evaluation at the end of the quarter to determine if it is safe and healthy to transition into a Hybrid Learning Model.  The Teacher Task Forces and administrators met together this week to review and determine our Full Remote Learning Model Schedules, tech deployment, expectations, and food distribution.  Please use at the Elementary Schools the form you received in the mail indicating your child’s teacher and Group A or B.  Mannheim Middle School is sending out schedules this week.  Your principals will send out specific parent letters regarding Welcome Back Full Remote Learning building information.

The District 83 staff returns for Institute Days and a Full Remote Planning Day on August 10, 11, 12, 2020.  The first day of student Remote Attendance is Thursday, August 13, 2020.

The Full Remote Learning Model information is on our website at www.d83.org.  Elementary Schedules, Mannheim Middle School Schedules, Technology Deployment Schedule, Parent Survey and the new Illinois School Board of Education Fall 2020 Learning Recommendation.

Lastly, thank you so much for completing our parent survey this summer which helped our staff make the decision to begin the school year Full Remote Learning Model.

I appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility as our entire district worked together with the COVID-19 situation that none of us could have imagined.  Thank you.
