Weekly Message - 3/7/21

Hello Parents!  So glad to see we got a glimpse of SPRING this week....let's keep the positive energy coming and look forward to days in the 60's next week!!!

This month Mannheim Middle School In Person Learning students will view a pre-recorded presentation on Sexual Abuse Awareness. Erin’s Law. also known as House Bill 6193, requires that schools implement an age appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness curriculum for grades K through 12. Victor Pacini, our long time presenter and survivor of sexual abuse will be presenting this curriculum to fulfill the requirement in the district. Mr. Pacini’s program is appropriate and provides the students with the awareness and skills to keep them safe from abusive situations. His program includes topics like: Distinguishing from safe and unsafe touches, Safety rules at home and school, Saying “NO”, Secrets, It is not the Child’s fault if they are touched inappropriately, and Telling a trusted adult. There is a link to Mr. Pacini’s presentation on the district webpage at http://www.d83.org if you would like to preview the program. Call us at the middle school office if you have any questions.

Parents, remember to take the https://survey.5-essentials.org/illi.../survey/parent/login/ (English) or https://survey.5-essentials.org/illi.../survey/parent/login/ (Spanish) when you have a chance. The link can also be found on the district webpage at www.d83.org.

Parents, the 4th quarter is quickly approaching and some students will need to pick up materials. Since most of what the students need is being delivered to them through their Chromebook, we ask that students that have Art or Sewing during the 4th quarter come to the main entrance during office hours next week either with a parent or by themselves to pick up those materials. Office Hours are between 7:30 am and 3:15 pm. Students that have art or sewing and have in person learning will receive their materials when they are at school next week.

Lastly, Do you have children at home between the ages of 2 and 4 who do not go to the Mannheim Early Childhood Center? Mannheim Early Childhood Center is holding Virtual Preschool screenings for March and April. Please contact the MECC office at 847-455-3611 to get on the screening list. Please note: a screening must take place to see if your child qualifies for the Pre-K program. Mannheim Early Childhood Center is filling up spots for the remainder of this year and registering students for the 21-22 school year now.

Have a great weekend!
