Roy School Student Council - Veteran's Day Project! This year the Roy School Student Council will be leading a collection of homemade Veteran's Day cards. If your child would like to contribute, they are welcome to make a card with their own artwork and greeting. The cards will be given to the Northlake American Legion to be included in gift bags that are given to veterans in the Concord Place Retirement Community. and elsewhere in the Leyden community. All cards must be turned in to their teacher by Monday November 8th. Consejo Estudiantil de la Escuela Roy - ¡Proyecto del Día de los Veteranos! Este año, el Consejo Estudiantil de la Escuela Roy liderará una colección de tarjetas caseras del Día de los Veteranos. Morning Roy Families! November here we come! In preparation for inclement weather days where students would learn remotely from home, all students in K-5 need their own personal headphones. We will be practicing for remote learning in school this Friday, November 5, 2021. Please make sure your student(s) has headphones by Friday. Morning Roy Families! Just a couple of reminders. Please remember there is no student drop off area this year. There are No Student Drop Off or Pick Up cones on the southeast corner of Roy and Lyndale during arrival and dismissal. The reason for this is to keep everyone safe and avoiding traffic congestion. There are plenty of places to park and then walk up to school. We do understand that the morning time can be stressful for parents and students but the safety and wellbeing of everyone is still our main priority. When dropping off and picking up students, parents and or other family members please do not stand or sit directly in front of doors, 2, 28, 29, or 30. Teachers and staff members need to stand out in front of the doors to supervise students as they enter and exit the building. Thank you very much for partnering with us to maintain a safe environment for students, staff, parents, and community members! Have a great Thorsday!! ¡Buenas familias de Roy! Solo un par de recordatorios. Por favor recuerde que este año no hay un área para dejar a los estudiantes. Monday, October 25, 2021 is our Roy School PTA Restaurant Night at Cochiaro's Pizza from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 10% of all Dine in or Carry Out orders will benefit our Roy School PTA! If you haven’t signed up for a conference, please reach out to your student’s teacher to schedule one. Friday, October 29, 2021 is Early Release at 12:00 p.m. Friday is also a “Roy Orange” day. Due to the current state of COVID-19 and maintaining the safety and well being of students and staff, students and staff will not be wearing costumes or having classroom parties on Friday, October 29, 2021. Students can wear an orange shirt or a shirt that has orange on it but still need to wear their uniform pants. Students will be participating in fall related activities in their classrooms. Hello! This is Joe Stanislao, Principal of Roy School, with the Roy School Messenger for the week of October 18, 2021. There has been a Change in Guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH): On September 29, 2021, the Illinois Department of Public Health eliminated the option of getting an alternative diagnosis when a person presents with COVID-like symptoms. Instead, the guidance states that testing is strongly recommended for all persons with COVID-19-like symptoms regardless of vaccination status. Therefore, if a student or staff member has symptoms, s/he will need to quarantine for 10 days or submit a negative COVID test returning when symptoms are gone. The test must be a PCR test. The video link for Family Literacy Night will be live starting on October 13th and go through October 20th. Students will receive a bookmark and a free book to kick off our literacy event. The bookmark will have a QR code. Please scan that code with a smart device to be taken to a link of teachers across the district reading their favorite picture book. We hope you and your families enjoy the videos and are inspired with new book ideas to promote literacy at home! Happy Thorsday (Got this from an outstanding person and love it!!)!! Just wanted to send a reminder about not bringing pets of any kind on school grounds. This is for the safety of students, staff, parents, and community members as well as for the pet owner. Thank you!! Also, please remember to wear a mask when dropping off and picking up your student(s). If you don't have a mask, I ask that you stand on the sidewalk when dropping off and picking up your student(s). We know wearing masks help so let's all mask up and be safe! Let's Go!!!!!!! Feliz jueves (¡¡Recibí esto de una persona sobresaliente y me encanta !!) !! Solo quería enviar un recordatorio sobre no traer mascotas de ningún tipo a los terrenos de la escuela.
