In October we are celebrating Bullying Prevention Month. On Monday, October 2, 2023 students are allowed to wear an orange shirt to begin celebrating! Students should still wear their uniform pants, shorts, or skirt.

Today all students got to hear about all the great things Northlake library has to offer along with our raffle! Students will bring home a paper about the library raffle today. Did you know the Northlake library has programs at 6:30pm Monday through Thursday night and at 2pm every Saturday? They will also have a trunk or treat event 10/28!

This week we read about a tree that survived the 9/11 attacks in New York. It is at the 9/11 memorial. We made our own tree full of messages about hope and kindness just like the tree in the book was nursed back to health with kindness from others!

Hello Roy Families, Due to the expected heat conditions for Wednesday, August 23rd and Thursday, August 24th, all students will be inside for recess. Students attending the Right After School Program on Wednesday and Thursday will also stay inside. Our students health and safety are always our top priority. District 83 has temperature restrictions when students go outside for recess, above 95 degrees with the heat index and below 15 degrees with the windshield. August 21, 2023 Level up Roy Families! This is Joe Stanislao, Principal of Roy School, with our Roy School Messenger for the week of August 21, 2023. We had a fantastic first week of school!! All of our students came prepared, were smiling, and ready to level up with their learning. Thank you parents and guardians for all of your help and support in getting students ready for this school year. We appreciate you!! Starting on Monday, August 21, 2023 bus #35 and #41 in King Arthur will be relocated due to the construction. Due to the construction and vehicle traffic on Schiller Ave east of Mannheim Road we will be temporarily moving bus stops. This is to ensure our students safety until we can safely navigate our buses to our regular stops. Please see the information that was sent home on Friday, August 18, 2023. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the main office. Wednesday, August 30, 2023 is Curriculum Night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in person at Roy. An informational letter will be sent home on Monday August 28, 2023 explaining Curriculum Night. Curriculum night is for parents and guardians only. Teachers will be presenting an overview of their curriculum and expectations. We are looking forward to seeing our parents and guardians at Roy for this important event! WELCOME BACK ROY STUDENTS AND FAMILIES!!! The first full day of school for students in grades 1-5 is Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bus riders will enter the building in the back of the school. Walkers and car riders will enter in the front of the building starting at 8:45 a.m. using door numbers 28, 29, 30, and 2. All students will go directly to their classrooms upon entry. Parents, guardians, or family members are not permitted to enter the building to accompany students to their classrooms. Thursday, August 17, 2023 is a full day of school 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Kindergarten students will attend an orientation with their teacher on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
