Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated during the week of 10/17 with a spirit week! Students will be able to sign our Red Ribbon Week Banner to pledge that they will be healthy & drug free. On 10/20, Northlake Police will be passing out ribbons to students during arrival time.

Students celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month during Makerspace in the LMC by making papel picado after reading books where those decorations were featured!

Aloha! T This is Joe Stanislao, Principal of Roy School, with the Roy School Messenger for the week of September 19, 2022. Students in 4th and 5th grade who participated in the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) in the Spring of 2022 will be receiving their score reports this week. The report includes how students performed in Math and ELA. The state of Illinois requires all students entering kindergarten have a medical, vision and dental exam. Second grade students are required by the state to have a dental exam. If you have not done so, please make sure to make appointments with your health care providers. All forms can be dropped off to our Health Clerk, Mrs. Pazos Morales, at Roy School between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. As the school year has gotten underway, we have started our safety drills. We have completed a fire drill, disaster drill, and bus evacuation. Staff and students have done a terrific job completing these drills. There are more drills scheduled throughout the year and I will keep all of our Roy Families updated. Erin’s Law, House Bill 6193 was signed by Governor Pat Quinn in 2013. The law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12. Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author, and motivational speaker will be assisting our schools in implementing this mandate. Mr. Pacini’s program is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The focus of his presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. The concepts that will be discussed are: Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches Safety rules at home and school Saying “NO” Safe/Unsafe Secrets It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her Telling a trusted adult Roy K-5 students will attend the presentation on Friday, September 16, 2022. If you would like your child to opt-out from the program, please contact your child’s classroom teacher. Thank you for attending our 9/11 ceremony this morning!It was great to honor the NL Police and Fire Departments and all of the service men and women who lost their lives while helping others during the attacks on our country on September 11, 2001. ¡Gracias por asistir a nuestra ceremonia del 11 de septiembre esta mañana! Fue grandioso honrar a los departamentos de policía y bomberos de los Países Bajos y a todos los hombres y mujeres del servicio que perdieron la vida mientras ayudaban a otros durante los ataques en nuestro país el 11 de septiembre de 2001.
