Hi Roy Families, Just wanted to remind everyone again to please follow all of the posted street signs, not blocking community members driveways or fire hydrants, and listening to the our District 83 crossing guards during drop off and pick up. Our crossing guards have a very important job to do in keeping everyone safe. Please be respectful and responsible and again follow their directives. We continue to have families during drop off and pick up stopping the flow of traffic, blocking the crosswalk, and parking on the wrong side of the street when turning eastbound on Lyndale coming from southbound on Roy or heading eastbound on Lyndale coming from westbound on Lyndale. The Northlake Police Department will issuing citations to families for not following the posted traffic signs. There is plenty of parking for drop off and pick up. Students have to exit and enter vehicles towards the sidewalks, not into oncoming traffic, in addition to using the crosswalks. Safety always is and will continue to be a top priority for Roy students, families, and staff. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe each and every day because it's the Roy School way!! Hello! This is Joe Stanislao, Principal of Roy School, with the Roy School Messenger for the week of February 21, 2022. There is no school tomorrow, Monday, February 21, 2022 in honor of President’s Day. Mrs. Petrasek, Superintendent of District 83, sent out a letter on Friday, February 18, 2022 regarding the change to the mask-wearing mandate. Mask wearing is now optional in school. We realize that people will have differing opinions regarding the use of masks, however we ask that students and staff treat everyone with kindness and grace. It’s now a family choice and we expect our Roy community to show respect to others and their choice. Thank you! Tuesday, February, 22, 2022 is “Twosday”. Students can dress as a twin with a friend, wear a shirt or jersey with the number 2 or a tutu to celebrate Twosday! All clothes must be school appropriate. Students not participating in “Twosday” still wear their uniform shirts, pants, or skirts. Thursday, February 24, 2022 is the Roy Bullish After School Program Family Literacy Night from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This event is just for students enrolled in the program. Mannheim Early Childhood Center is holding their annual district wide preschool school screening. If you have a child at home between the ages of 2.5 - 4 years of age it is time to schedule a preschool screening. Please be aware that we have been in contact with our local law enforcements to follow our safety procedures if any threats are made to our schools. Safety is our top priority. All precautions have been put into place to keep our students and staff safe. We will follow our safety procedures with Police Departments and Cook County Sheriff Department in the event of any emergency situation. Roy Parents and Guardians, the submission of the 21st CCLC Interest Form to apply for the Roy Bullish After School Program has been extended to Tuesday, December 14, 2021 . If parents are interested in more than one student applying, a form must be completed for each child. Students can participate in Roy sponsored after school activities and the Roy Bullish After School Program. A lottery will be conducted to select the Roy Bullish After School scholars. Students and families will be notified by Friday, December 17, 2021. Once accepted, parents or guardians must complete a 21st CCLC Registration Form before attending the after school program. Forms will be distributed by the site coordinator/ program director. Thank you and don't forget to submit your 21st CCLC Interest Form(s) by Tuesday, December 14, 2021!! See the flyer attached which indicates what students can wear during the last seven days of school before winter break. District 83 is looking to hire substitute teachers and bus drivers. The District uses Kelly Services to hire substitute teachers. If you are interested in learning about becoming a substitute teacher, please contact Kelly Services at 1-800-991-5157. Bus drivers will earn $26 an hour, once they are trained and qualified for service. If you are interested, please call our Transportation Office at 847.455.4413 and ask to speak with Brenda Rodriguez.
