A graphic titled "COMMUNITY OVERVIEW" in large blue and black text on a white background. Below the title is a central image of the Enger School mascot—a gray jaguar dressed in a blue superhero costume with a red cape and mask. The words "Enger School" are printed in blue at the bottom of the slide.

Enger School's Community Curriculum is a unique, but incredibly beneficial part of a student's week at Enger School. During Community time, students have an opportunity to visit various places in the local community. During this time, the skills they learn and practice include but are certainly not limited to:

  • Finding items in a store

  • Maneuvering around a store

  • Paying for items

  • Sitting in a restaurant

  • Ordering food at a restaurant

  • Paying for food at a restaurant

  • Finding books at the local library

  • Watching a show at the local library

  • Observing a fireman and paramedic

  • Walking safely around the neighborhood

  • Following street signs

  • Crossing the street

  • Walking in a parking lot

Students look forward to Community time each week, and teachers love to see the progress their students make throughout the year as they slowly work towards independence!
