Dear Parents/Guardians,
The safety and well-being of our students are our highest priorities. To this end, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you about the district’s “Five-Minute Rule,” which is outlined in the Parent–Student Handbook for 2024–2025 on page 4, under the section General Information: Articles Prohibited in School.
The “Five-Minute Rule” is an important rule designed to encourage students to take immediate responsibility if they unintentionally bring prohibited items to school. Such items include, but are not limited to, weapons (or look-alike weapons), firecrackers, skateboards, matches, and other potentially hazardous or disruptive objects.
If a student discovers they have inadvertently brought a prohibited item to school, they must report it to a school staff member or hand it over immediately—ideally within five minutes of realizing their mistake. Following this policy allows students to correct the situation responsibly and, depending on the circumstances, may lead to reduced disciplinary consequences.
The goal of the “Five-Minute Rule” is to promote honesty, accountability, and a constructive response to mistakes, all while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment for everyone.
We encourage you to review this rule with your student to ensure they understand its purpose and importance. This is also a great opportunity to review the Parent – Student Handbook with your student. Together, we can continue providing a safe and positive learning environment to all our students.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your school office. Enjoy your weekend.
Best,
Dr. Diego Giraldo
Superintendent of Schools

A big thank you to our parent volunteers who have come in to help for library checkout. The students enjoy this so much. With the cold weather season upon us, please review the D83 E-Learning Plan. Also if your child is sick please make sure to notify the office.
