DISTRICT NEWS — Quest Food Management Services has announced that iceberg lettuce and fresh jalapeños will return to school dining menus starting Monday, September 21. The update follows the official conclusion of a multistate Cyclospora outbreak that prompted precautionary menu modifications earlier this summer.
On September 11, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) declared the outbreak officially closed. Additionally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed that all recalled products tied to the initial July notice have been completely cleared from the supply chain.
Extra Steps for Safety Verification
Although public health agencies issued an all-clear, Quest’s Culinary and Procurement teams spent extra time working with distributors to independently verify sourcing and secure a safe, reliable inventory before restoring the items to meal programs.
"Food safety remains one of our highest priorities," said Quest CEO Nick Saccaro in a message to families. "We appreciate your understanding and trust as we took these additional precautions. It is a responsibility we take seriously, and we remain committed to providing safe, high-quality meals to the students and communities we serve."
